NAPSA Donates to Milima Female Correctional Facility in Celebration of International Women’s Day

The National Pension Scheme Authority (NAPSA) has made a donation to the Milima Female Correctional Facility in Kasama to mark the 2025 International Women’s Day. The donation, valued at K80,000, included a variety of essential items such as mealie meal, cooking oil, sugar, salt, washing powder, bathing soap, sanitary towels, chitenge materials, household cleaning supplies, and children’s clothes.

During the donation handover, Cephas Sinyangwe, the NAPSA Head of Corporate Affairs, emphasized the authority’s commitment to supporting those in need, including inmates. He highlighted the importance of respecting the human rights of individuals, even those serving prison sentences, and noted that they too deserved to live with dignity as they worked through their reformation journey. Sinyangwe encouraged the inmates to stay united, steadfast, and faithful, reassuring them that they had not been forgotten.

Mrs. Bobo, the Officer in Charge of Milima Female Correctional Facility, expressed gratitude for the donation, acknowledging that it was aligned with the 2025 International Women’s Day theme, “For All Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment.” She emphasized that the donation reflected the three themes, particularly focusing on the right to food and empowerment.

As of March 7, 2025, Milima Female Correctional Facility housed 21 inmates and three circumstantial children.
