Joshua Malupenga is an accomplished Chartered Accountant and Fellow of both the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) of the United Kingdom and the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA). He holds a Bachelor of Accountancy degree from Copperbelt University, Zambia, and has amassed over 29 years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, investments, audit, risk management, and human resource management across large, multibillion-Kwacha organizations. His leadership has driven significant business transformations through financial discipline, innovation, and a focus on operational excellence.
Professional Experience:
Joshua currently serves as the Director of Finance at the National Pension Scheme Authority (NAPSA), a position he assumed in June 2024. In this role, his immediate focus is on driving financial sustainability and improving operational efficiency, leveraging digital tools to streamline processes and enhance customer experience. His strategic priorities include optimizing NAPSA’s budget processes, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and modernizing financial reporting systems to align with international standards.
Prior to joining NAPSA, Joshua was the Chief Financial Officer at Zamtel, where he also acted as Chief Executive Officer for 18 months.
Joshua’s leadership was instrumental in Zamtel’s ability to navigate a challenging financial environment, enhance intra-group asset optimization, and establish a more resilient financial framework for future growth.
His earlier career includes leadership roles at ZSIC Group, where he served as Group Director – Finance and Investments, and the Energy Regulation Board, where he was Director – Finance and Administration. At Celpay Zambia Limited, he held the position of Finance and Administration Manager, driving financial planning and cost management. Joshua also worked as an Internal Auditor/Business Analyst at Celtel Zambia Limited, gaining experience in financial oversight and risk management, and as Audit Senior at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Lusaka, where he honed his audit and compliance expertise.
